Myla Lee serves as a national consultant for project-based learning and literacy. She has presented her work at state and national conferences such as the International Reading Association and the International Society in Technology Education (ISTE) conferences, focusing on various topics first field-tested in her classroom. Through her commitment to teacher excellence, Myla has researched and collaborated with university professors to help pre-service educators and to co-publish on multicultural literacy. Through the ISTE-affiliate organization Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL), Myla also supported teachers across the state in designing rigorous STEM project-based learning units. She currently serves as a MACUL officer of the Special Interest Group on Professional Learning.
With over 25 years of classroom experience, Myla brings her practical expertise to the professional learning opportunities she provides adult learners. With a belief that learning should be empowering, relevant, and personal, she has provided professional learning for administrators and educators in a variety of settings, focused on topics such as formative assessment, questioning/inquiry, project management, technology integration, and the 4Cs. Myla was also the Project-Based Learning Specialist with Technology Integration for Novi Community Schools (Michigan) and is currently an Instructional Coach for the district, providing job-embedded professional learning for its teachers. In addition, she consults for the Buck Institute for Education and P21: Partnership for 21st Century Learning.
Through her journey as a classroom teacher and now an educator for adults, Myla’s beliefs about learning continues to grow and be affirmed. Paramount among these beliefs is that a culture of thinking, curiosity, creativity, and collaboration is essential to successful student-centered learning such as PBL.
